COMBS, Blanche E. (Burtrum) – Of Flint, age 97, died Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Willowbrook Manor.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2015 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Bishop Jeffrey S. Lambert officiating.
Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Blanche was born in Turkey Ford, Oklahoma on August 19, 1917,
the daughter of Elbert and Bessie Martin, and was a resident of the Flint area since 1935.
She was a member of West Flint Church of God since 1936, where she taught and worked in the Sunday School area for 51 years and served as secretary and treasurer for the Ladies Auxiliary for 27 years.
Mrs. Combs was a fur finisher for Clyde Burtrum Furs for 36 years, retiring in 1991.
Surviving are children, Shirley Dingess of Athens, Tennessee,
Wayne and wife Wilma Burtrum of Flint;
step-son, Clyde and wife Sylvia Burtrum of Vero Beach, Florida;
many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Burtrum, second husband, Earl Combs; son, John Burtrum; brother, Doyle Martin; sister, Marjorie McGuire; step-sons, Ernie and Earl Burtrum; step-daughter, Evelyn Mince.
