Maria Elizabeth Holt-Aistrop, 61, of Davison, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2026, surrounded by her family. Family and friends are invited to come together to remember Maria, share stories, and pay their respects at her Funeral Service at 6 PM on Friday, October 16, 2026 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettell officiating. The family will receive visitors on Friday from 12 PM until the time of service. Cremation will take place following the service and Maria will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery alongside her husband, Ken. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the YWCA of Greater Flint or Catholic Charities in honor of Maria.
Maria was born November 19, 1964, in Flint, Michigan, to Robert Eugene Holt and Helen Leona Holt (Hresko). She graduated from Powers Catholic High School in 1982. In 1995, Maria married Ken Aistrop, and together they raised their four children, Dana, Sasha, Daniel, and David. Maria and Ken encouraged their children's interests and gave them the freedom to discover who they were and grow into the people they are today. Family was at the heart of Maria's life. Some of the family's strongest memories are of the gatherings she brought together—Thanksgivings, Christmases, Easters, and annual camping trips. Maria wanted the people she loved together, preferably under one roof, and with her larger-than-life personality, she was often at the center of it all. That sense of family extended well beyond her own. Maria welcomed her children's friends into her home regardless of who they were or where they came from and had a way of making people feel like they belonged. She sometimes earned the title of the “cool mom,” often through the funny and unexpected things she would say—occasionally to the embarrassment of her children. There was always room for one more. A rebel at heart, Maria had a creative spirit and loved making things with her hands, especially floral arrangements made from both living and wooden flowers. Her children remember watching her craft in the kitchen while she shared stories of the adventures—and occasional misadventures—of her younger years with siblings and friends. Maria especially cherished being a grandmother. She adored her grandchildren, and so many family photographs capture the joy she found in being with them—holding them close, laughing together, playing games, and making crafts.
Maria is survived by her children: Dana Mushlock, Sasha Thatcher, Daniel Aistrop, and David Aistrop; her grandchildren: Ava, Hunter, Marley, Bennett and Lillian; her sister, Carole Palma; her nieces and nephews, including Michael Palma, Alyssa Wilmoth (Palma), and Jason Holt; her godson, Braydon; and many extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken Aistrop; her parents, Robert Holt and Helen Holt (Hresko); her brothers, David and Donald Holt; her sister, Linda Palma; and her brother-in-law, Michael Palma.
