MOORE, Joe Edward – of Davison, MI, age 60, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2023 at The Cottages of Davison. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 5 PM Friday, September 15, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423. Rev. Fr. Andrew Czajkowski officiating. The family will receive visitors from 3 PM until the time of service. Inurnment in Sunset Hills Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Michigan Special Olympics, in Joe’s memory.
Joe was born in Flint, MI on March 27, 1963, fourth son of the late Duncan and Carolyn (Grove) Moore. He graduated from Elmer Knopf Learning Center in 1989, and was a proud Special Olympian for many years, even participating in the 1980 Games in Lake Placid, NY. Singer, dancer, celebrity impersonator, practical joker, flirt, and self-proclaimed “party Animal,” Joe relished any and every opportunity to gather with loved ones, always eagerly anticipating the next birthday, holiday, school dance, or family get-together. He especially cherished annual summer getaways to Archibald Lake in Wisconsin. Joe’s innate charm, good-natured humor, and enthusiasm for life touched us all. Often, we felt his love in small moments. Like when he’d make a clever wisecrack with a wry smile. Or recall a bit of classic TV trivia. Or simply offer one of his trademark bearhugs. Now, those small moments have become profound lessons. Now, we can see that his life was a masterclass in the best parts of humanity: kindness, generosity, joy, and unconditional love. We’re forever grateful for the love and the life lessons, Joe Edward- our brother, uncle, cousin, friend, and the eternal life of the party.
Joe is survived by his 3 loving brothers, Duncan (Ava) Moore, George (Lynn) Moore and James (Joan) Moore; nieces and nephews, Michelle Ryan, Michael Ryan, Matt (Kandace) Moore, Sarah (Brandon) Miller, Lisa (Michael) King, Jill Moore (Phillip Roth), and Rebecca (Craig) Hitchcock; many great nieces and nephews and many other loving family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
