Juanita was born on July 13, 1947, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Walter Thompson and Pearl (Prast) White. Affectionately known to everyone as “Pug,” she graduated from Ainsworth High School in Flint before marrying the love of her life, Tony Hromek, on December 19, 1964. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and friendships. Tony preceded her in death on June 5, 2015, and Pug longed for the day they would be reunited once again.

Nothing brought Pug greater joy than her family. She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of her life. She was also a devoted and enthusiastic supporter of Montrose Schools athletics, faithfully cheering on generations of student-athletes. Pug enjoyed traveling, sharing lunches with her dear friends, and in earlier years was an avid bowler. Her compassionate heart for others led her to package lunches to be distributed by the street ministry of Beauty for Ashes, where she found great purpose in serving those in need and sharing Christ’s love.

Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Coetta Adams (Gregg Blackburn), Carla Vandefifer, and Toni Sue (Mike) Atwell; six grandchildren, Kylie (Jake) Duley, Trevor (Karah) Atwell, Kassidi (Kelsey) Adams, Hannah Atwell, Noah (Abbie) Vandefifer, and Eric (Remington) Vandefifer; five beloved great-grandchildren, Rory and Oakley Duley, Kinsey Atwell, Brooks Vandefifer, and Olson Adams; her brother, Walter (Pam) Thompson; sister-in-law, Carolyn Kaczmarek; and many cherished nieces and nephews, including Debbie (Norm) Roberts, Karen Kaczmarek, Mike Kaczmarek, Coreena Robertson, Denelle Benner, Lloyd (Sherry) Wright, Butch Thompson, and Alicia (Ken) Gembel.

In addition to her parents and her beloved husband, Tony, Pug was preceded in death by her sister, Marilyn Wright; brother-in-law, Don Kaczmarek; and son-in-law, Bobby Adams. Pug will be remembered for her unwavering love of family, her generous spirit, her loyal friendships, and the joy she brought to all who knew her. Her legacy of kindness, faith, and devotion will continue to live on in the lives she touched. The family would like to extend a special, heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff at McLaren ICU and the staff at Regency of Grand Blanc for their wonderful care.
