William James “Bill” Nagy, 74, of Huntley, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Bill was born on August 5, 1951, in Holly, Michigan, to Julius and Florence (Foley) Nagy. He graduated from Fenton High School in 1969 and went on to attend Ferris State University. On August 17, 2002, he married Jody Lynn Wandrie (Martin) in Gaines, beginning a life together filled with love, family, and shared adventures.
Bill dedicated 45 years of his career to Operating Engineers Local #324, contributing to numerous projects over the years. He also worked with Nagy Excavating, continuing a strong family work ethic. In retirement, he and Jody moved to Huntley, Illinois, where they spent the past three years enjoying time close to their grandchildren, something that brought Bill immense joy.
A man of many passions, Bill was a lifetime member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, with connections in Flint, Davison, and North Carolina. He was also a proud lifetime member of Byron Masonic Lodge #80 F.&A.M., Fenton Moose Lodge #430, Durand Eagles Aerie #3851, and the StingRays Swim Team in Huntley. Bill loved traveling and motorcycling, but above all, he cherished his family. He was especially devoted to his grandchildren and played a meaningful role in organizing numerous charity events throughout his life.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Jody; his son, Trevor (Shannon) Martin; and his treasured grandchildren, Jordan, Mckenzie, and Cameron. He is also survived by his brother, Steve (Pam) Nagy; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, including Lindsey (Mike) Turbyville, Joshua (Charlene) Nagy, Aimee (Adam) Shook, Jonathan (Brenna Maday) Nagy and Lori Wade.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. A Masonic Memorial Service, under the auspices of Byron Masonic Lodge #80 F.&A.M., will take place at 11:45 AM, followed by a Memorial Service at 12:00 PM, officiated by Mr. Randy Plumley. The service will be live-streamed and available via Bill’s obituary page which can be found on www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Bill’s memory may make contributions to the Lymphoma Research Foundation or the Elf Khurafeh Shrine Transportation Fund, which supports children in Shiawassee County. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
Bill will be remembered for his generosity, his strong sense of community, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.
