WELSH, Helen D. (Hopkins) age 91, passed away Thursday, December 17 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 21, 2015 from 4PM-8PM. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 12PM at Hill Funeral Home – 11723 S. Saginaw St. Grand Blanc, MI with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Helen was born in Goodrich, MI to the late Oscar and Alice (Dancer) Cummings. She went to school and lived in Goodrich most of her life. She loved bowling and participated in many bowling leagues in Grand Blanc with her friends. Her bowling skills earned her several patches and other awards. Helen worked at many local businesses in Goodrich, including Gray’s Pharmacy which later became Hecht’s Pharmacy, Bennett’s Hardware, and eventually became the secretary of the Goodrich Volunteer Ambulance. She retired from the workforce in 1991. She also put in many years working for her brother Horace “Buster” Cummings at his turkey farm during the holidays. Surviving are her children, Pamela S. (Tom) Broecker, and Edward H. Hopkins Jr.; welcomed daughter when she married Robert Welsh, Diane Hoffman; grandchildren, Lorie (Doug) Broecker-Burt, Ryan (Carol) Broecker; welcomed grandchildren, Tammy (Troy) Bailey, Michelle (Betsy) Huff-Brelinski, David (Sheree) Hoffman, and Kimberly (Blaine) Terry; great-grandchildren, Paul (Katie) Burt, Meagan Broecker, Ashton Burt, Justin Broecker, and Andrew Burt; her great-grandchildren that she was lucky enough to inherit, Nickolas and Amy Bailey, Zachary and Amanda Huff, Kevin and Devin Terry, Andrew and Alyssa Hoffman, and Amyah, Madalyn, and Andrew Huff; great-great-grandchildren, Easton and Paisley Burt; and special nephew, Jimmy (April) Cummings. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Edward H. Hopkins Sr.; second husband, Robert Welsh; and son-in-law Harold “Bud” Hoffman.
