MITCHELSON, Mary Ann, age 88, of Burton, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2022 surrounded by family. Funeral Services will be 11AM Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc. Visitation will be 5-8PM Wednesday and 10AM Thursday until time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Memorial Donations may be made to National Kidney Foundation of Michigan (nkfm.org)
Mary Ann was born June 27, 1934 in Muskegon, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Schmid) Hughes. She married Kyran Joseph Mitchelson on October 22, 1955 in Muskegon. They moved to the Flint area in 1959 and built a life together raising children and making lifelong friendships. Mary Ann was a high-energy woman who shared grace and love of life with others. She had beautiful gardens around her home and shared the perennials with family and friends each season. She enjoyed visiting with her neighbors and playing Bingo. Before retirement, she worked at the Southmoor Golf Course Pro Shop and gardened at Atlas Valley Country Club. Mary Ann loved being Grandma and was very proud of all of her children and grandchildren, boasting how they were all unique, accomplished happy people. Just like her husband, Kyran, she never complained and was sharp as a whip all the way to the end. We will miss you Mom.
Surviving are her children, Carey Mitchelson of Okemos, Sandra Purdue of Burton, Linda Kennedy (Jim) of Glennie, Jody Lehnert of Littleton, CO, Eileen Simms (John) of Commerce Twp., Patricia Mitchelson of Clermont, FL, 13 grandchildren, Justin Mitchelson (Jenna), Jordan Caponigro (John), Chase Mitchelson (Danielle), Nathan Purdue, Ian Purdue, Benjamin Carlson (Karina), Jennifer Mask (Robert), Lucas Kennedy, Mackenzie Simms, Meghan Simms; Kylie Kaiser (Christopher), Emily Mitchelson, Mitchell Wright, 16 great-grandchildren, Madison, Ivy, Dawson, Kyran, Christian, Jack, Harrison, Cecelia, Merit, Charlotte, Norah, Myles, Tripp, Wells, Kier, Teko. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kyran; daughter, Francine; sister, Nan Dombrausky.
