LAMB, Willard F. “Bill” – Of Grand Blanc, age 90, Flint radio pioneer and longtime radio personality Bill Lamb passed away Tuesday after a lengthy illness.
Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Steve Wood officiating, followed by a military service by the Marine Corps League Flint Detachment #155 Honor Guard.
Cremation has taken place.
Visitation 11 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Bill was born in Portsmith, Ohio on September 1, 1924.
He married Norma Swartz in Oakland County on August 27, 1949.
He was co-owner of the Bill Lamb Record Shoppes, host of the 50's JAM FOR BREAKFAST radio show and originator of Disk Jockey Dances. In the 60s he became host of THE BUICK FACTORY WHISTLE SHOW which aired over 11,400 programs and was the top rated show in Flint radio for over a decade.
Surviving are children, Bill and wife Becky Lamb of Louisville, KY,
Bob of Grand Blanc,
Jeff of Toledo, OH,
Becky and husband Scott Wood of Grand Rapids;
grandchildren, Nicholas (Megan) Lamb,
Kira Lamb, Megan Lamb, Lauren Lamb, Jennifer Wood and Stephanie Wood;
great-granddaughter, Amelia Lamb and great-grandson, Liam Lamb.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma, in September 2014.
