Richard Leroy Rhein, Sr, age 88, of Lapeer, Michigan, died Friday, January 23, 2026.
Dick was born November 8, 1937, in Shepherd, Michigan to Paul and Annabelle (Sumner) Rhein. Dick married Janet Lou Pierson on February 23, 1957, at Immaculate Conception Church, Lapeer. Dick and Janet owned and operated Dick Rhein Disposal from 1962 until 1991. Dick enjoyed traveling and simple times spent on his farm and around the lake. He was passionate about his Catholic faith. Above all, Dick loved his family.
Dick is survived by his children: Gary (Merry) Rhein of Lapeer, Cheryl (Tim) Rhein-O'Neill of Lapeer, Richard "Rick" Jr (Angie) Rhein of Lapeer, Karl (Cynthia) Rhein of Lapeer, Donald (Kris) Rhein of Marquette, Robert (Tammy) Rhein of Lapeer and Penny (Glenn) Clemens of Alger; 27 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; brothers: Steve Rhein and Adam "Fritz' (Cozy) Rhein as well as his special friend, Joyce Chapel of Lapeer. Dick was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janet Rhein; siblings: Barbara Hiltz, Delores Stresen-Reuter, MaryAnn Davis and Paul "Junior" Rhein; great grandson, Carson Reger and his aforementioned parents, Paul & Annabelle.
Visitation will be held from 2-8PM Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rosary will be prayed at 7PM Tuesday evening. Dick's funeral Mass will be at 11:00AM Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Church, Lapeer. Burial will follow at Mt. Loretto Cemetery, Lapeer. Memorial contributions are encouraged to the Refuge Homeless Shelter of Lapeer or the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.
