STATSON, Marylou (née Kesner), 77, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, with her husband by her side.
Born on March 3, 1948, in Dunkirk, New York, to the late Matthew S. Kesner and Mary Kesner, Marylou grew up with two older siblings, Matthew Jr. and Marcia, both of whom predeceased her.
On August 5, 1967, in Albany, New York, she married the love of her life, Dale E. Statson. Their enduring marriage of over 58 years was a testament to their deep commitment and shared devotion.
Marylou was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Dale; her son, Scott Statson (Kimberly); her daughter, Michele Hanks (Brian); her cherished grandchildren, Scott Jr., Nick, Matthew, Sam, Brittany, Michael, and Brooke; and her eight beloved great-grandchildren, Willa, Caden, Luke, Lillian, John, Scott III, Beckham, and Taytum.
A Christian woman of strong faith, Marylou loved the Lord deeply and lived her life reflecting His love through her actions. She delighted in family time, especially competitive games of UNO that brought laughter and friendly rivalry to gatherings. A lifelong crafter, she delighted in making handmade treasures to share with those in need. She gave generously of both her resources and her time, volunteering with Desert Angels—a faith-based ministry that sends care packages filled with encouragement, hope, and essentials to deployed military personnel.
Marylou’s warmth, creativity, and unwavering love will be remembered fondly by all who knew her. She leaves behind a wonderful legacy of family, faith, and kindness.
Marylou will be laid to rest in a private burial beside her beloved parents at White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery, 621 West Long Lake Road, Troy, Michigan 48098.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Marylou’s memory may be sent to The Way Church of Fenton. (Findandfollow.org)
