McCarius, David Samuel - Age 85, of Flint passed away August 17, 2026.He had a great sense of humor and was generous. He was born in Flint, Michigan to Samuel and Adele McCarius. He lived in Flint his entire life and family members joked that he knew everyone in Flint. He went to school at Flint Northern and then Flint Junior College. He served in the Army National Guard and became a Military Police Officer. David loved good food and ran the family restaurant, Gregory’s on Ballenger Highway in Flint. After Gregory’s closed, he held numerous sales positions. His last position was at Signs by Crannie. David was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his beloved sisters Mary O’Toole, Nancy Beni and Judy Dunkerly; his daughter Dana McCarius; Grandchildren Samantha (Lee) Gillespie, Lauren (Zach) Newsome, Steven (Brekelle) Davis, Sarah Davis, Leslie (Ryan) Smith, their mother Lisa (Steve) Davis, 8 great grandkids and his precious cat Doe. He adored his Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren as he always had the biggest smile when talking about them! David also had such a great group of friends that he knew since primary school. These relationships were highly valued. He had been sick the last six months and his daughters would like to especially thank Karen (Dennis) Lazar, Steven Davis, Mary O’Toole, and Mary Penrod for going above and beyond in various ways. Special thanks to all the dear friends, neighbors, and relatives that visited, called, and texted him when he was sick. He was surrounded by love!
A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 from 1:00-3:00pm with a Memorial service to begin at 3:00 pm at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd, Swartz Creek, Michigan 48473. |
