FARRER, Ronald James “Ron” – Of Burton, age 81, died Saturday, February 18, 2017 at McLaren-Flint.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road with Dr. Max Hayden officiating.
Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery with Military Honors under the auspices of VFW Post #3087.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Funeral Home.
Ronald was born in Flint, Michigan on June 14, 1935, the only child of James and Florence Farrer and was a resident of Burton.
He graduated from Flint Central High School Class of 1953.
Ron served in the United States Army and Army Reserve. He was deployed during the Cuban Missile Crisis, then received an Honorable Discharge in 1964.
As a young man, Ron and his father enjoyed power boating on Lake Fenton and model railroading. In his late years, he enjoyed playing the organ, shopping at thrift stores and doing yard work at his home in Burton.
Ron was employed by AC Spark Plug and was working as a production line set-up man in Division 11, when he retired after 30 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his life partner, Veneda Zerbe.
