RUSSELL, Michael - Of Flint, age 60, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
Funeral service will be held at 4 pm Sunday, May 4, 2025, at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Paster Jeff Glover officiating.
Visitation will be at 12 noon Sunday until time of service.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 1:30 pm.
Contributions may be made to the family.
Michael was born in Syracuse, New York, on September 3, 1964, the son of Gerald and Ardith (Ware) Russell.
After graduating high school in 1983, Michael enlisted in the U.S Navy and served 4 years on the U.S.S. Yellowstone.
On September 19, 1987, he married the love of his life Pamela Ijames.
Michael enjoyed spending time with his family. Michael and family spent almost every summer at Young State Park in Boyne City, Michigan. Michael also enjoyed kayaking on the Linden Mill Pond, NASCAR and going to car shows, spending time with his grandson Cameryn and letting him drive the golf cart.
Michael had the biggest heart and would always lend a hand, and he had the biggest smile and loved life. He was the best dad, son, brother and friend.
Michael attended Genesee Independent Baptist Church in Flint, finding peace and comfort with God after the passing of his wife Pamela.
Surviving are son, Colton and wife Daytona Russell
grandson, Cameryn;
mother, Ardith Russell;
sister, Lisa (Chris) Maley;
sister-in-law, Sally (Phil) Magsig;
brother-in-law, Dennis (Kathy) Ijames;
girlfriend, Shelly Pennell;
And several nieces and nephews.
he was preceded in death by wife Pamela and baby daughter, Jessica.
