DiCOSOLA, Brigida “Bess” (Giacalone) – of Burton, MI, age 96, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020. A Private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley Street, Flint, MI 48504; Fr. Tom Firestone celebrant. Interment in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Bess was born in Flint, MI on July 7, 1924, daughter of the late Phillip and Rose (Dolce) Giacalone. She married Michael R. DiCosola on March 7, 1941 and he preceded her in death on October 18, 1993. Bess loved her grandchildren and spending time with her family.
Bess is survived by 3 children, Deborah Asaro, Michael (Tammy) DiCosola and Alisa (Herb) Waitman; 18 grandchildren, David DiCosola, Jr., Chris DiCosola, Michelle (Josh) Johnson, Whitney DiCosola, Michael DiCosola, Jr., Michaela Waitman, Joseph Waitman, Nick (Becky) Asaro, Michael (Sara) Asaro, Alison (Jesse Chaney) Asaro, Chris (Carrie) Seymour, Ashley Seymour; Sidney Scofield, Hailey Scofield, Eric Scofield, Elana Waitman, Taylor Waitman and Christy Waitman;11 great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Erika, Kaia, Ashton, Sophia, Grayson, Dakota, Jack, Stella, Oona and Veda; 2 sisters, Sarah Massimino and Vivian (Andy) Peraino; canine companion, Nico; many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip Giacalone and Rose (Victor) Cavalier; husband, Michael DiCosola; daughter, Michele Rose DiCosola; son, David DiCosola; son-in-law, Chuck Asaro; daughter-in-law, Marie DiCosola; 5 siblings, Mary, Virginia, Joe, Carl and Vickie.
