SHIPLEY, Kenneth Clarence, Jr. – of Lapeer, MI, age 72, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2019. A Funeral Service, with Military Honors, will be held 11 AM Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Arlyn Willett officiating. Interment will take place 1 PM Thursday, November 14, 2019 in Great Lakes National Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 3-8 PM Tuesday, November 12, 2019 and 10-11 AM Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home.
Ken was born in Flint, MI on February 22, 1947, son of the late Kenneth and Neva (Heid) Shipley, Sr. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968. Ken married Jean Brace on July 20, 1991. He was employed with Consumers Energy, retiring in 2007 after many years of service. Ken was a member of the Lapeer American Legion Post #16 and the Lapeer VFW Post #4139. He enjoyed building houses and especially loved spending time with his family and friends.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Jean Shipley; daughter-in-law, Amanda Shipley; 2 step-daughters, Angie (Rick) Rhein and Teresa (Ben) Cummings; 10 grandchildren, Gabriel and Natalie Shipley, Jonathan and Liliya Rhein, Mason and Nola Cummings, Nolin (Kyle) Rhein, Rick Rhein, III and Russ Rhein; 3 siblings, Shirley Byrne, Irene (Ron) Brasseur and Larry (Margaret) Shipley; very special cousin, Jim Shipley; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Neva Shipley, Sr. and his son, Kenneth Clarence Shipley, III.
