Danny Wayne Osmon

Born: 1/11/1953
Died: 5/5/2026
Age: 73
Community: Burton, MI

The lives of Danny and Sherry Osmon were deeply intertwined in love, devotion, and family, and even in death they remained together, passing away on May 5th just 12 hours apart after 52 years of marriage.
Danny Osmon was born on January 11, 1953, in Lepanto, Arkansas, and Sherry Mefford was born on May 18, 1954, in Flint, Michigan. The two were married on May 25, 1974, beginning a beautiful life marked by faithfulness, laughter, sacrifice, and unwavering love for God and their family.
Danny was intelligent, quick-witted, caring and ready to laugh. He was a devoted husband to Sherry and a devoted father and grandfather to Matthew, Nicole, Ada and Jill. He coached his kids' sports teams, made sure they always had the best cleats and tennis shoes, and spent countless hours playing every Nintendo game his kids wanted to try and looking at art he didn't necessarily like. He thoroughly enjoyed sports, music, cooking a meal, hunting and fishing, fantasy novels, gaming and trying out many new hobbies. He loved his family deeply and provided a home filled with humor and love and he never missed an opportunity to cheer on the Michigan Wolverines (Go Blue).
Sherry was the rock of the family, the steady and compassionate heart that held everyone together. She was aggressively kind, loving, selfless, and sincerely committed to her family. Her love covered those around her through every season of life, and she gave of herself endlessly to ensure others felt cared for, supported, and known. Conversations with Sherry would often include what kind of great deal she got while out shopping, how proud she was of Ada and her kids and her excitement when she finished the coffee schedule for church. She loved making memories and creating a home and family life rooted in faith, warmth, strength, and unconditional love. To know Sherry was to love Sherry.
Together, Danny and Sherry were beloved by so many. They were compassionate, generous people whose faith was a fundamental part of their life. They served their church for many years, helping wherever there was a need. Their lives reflected humility, kindness, hospitality, and a deep love for both God and people. They built a legacy not only through what they did, but through the way they loved.
Danny and Sherry are survived by their children and granddaughter: Matthew, Nicole, Ada, and Jill.
They are also survived by Danny’s siblings: Marcia and Vaughn Randall; Dennis and Beth Osmon; Debbie and Greg Jones; Lisa and Bob Long; and Sherry’s sisters: Patty and Ivan Ivanoff; Judy and Glenn Harris; and Karen and Mike Pickover.
They are lovingly remembered by their nieces and nephews: Ryan and Amanda Randall; Josh and Ondria Jones; Jami Randall; Jake and Meghan Randall; Caleb and Erin Jones; Andrew and Laura Long; Erika and Brian Roop; Isaac Osmon; Nicole and Mike Yancey; Lindsey Ivanoff; Brian Harris; Brad Harris; Katie Pickover; Jessie and Jason Wilson; Jenna and Caleigh Shuler; and Michael and Erica Pickover. Along with many beloved great nieces and nephews.
They also leave behind many dear friends, including their cherished “Framily” vacation group, whose friendship and love brought them so much joy through the years.
Danny and Sherry were preceded in death by their parents, Sonny and Nell Osmon, and Willard and Marlene Mefford and Sherry’s brother Roger Mefford.
Though their passing leaves an immeasurable loss for all who loved them, there is comfort in knowing they are together in heaven. Danny and Sherry lived side by side in love and devotion for more than five decades and now rest together in eternity. Their faith, love, generosity, and commitment to family and God will continue to shape the lives of those who knew them for generations to come. And in the words of Sherry, “these words are heartfelt”.
