Karl B. Harrison, age 77, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2017. He was born on October 26, 1940 in Northville, Michigan to parents Alfred and Katherine (Sergent) Harrison. Karl attended Grand Blanc High School but graduated from Dye High School in Flint. He later attended Mott Community College and earned an Associate’s Degree. Karl fulfilled his apprenticeship at General Motors in machine repair and die maker and continued to work there for ten years before beginning his work at Kennametal where he retired after 36 years of service. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and the Marine Corps Reserves. Karl was very involved in both the Flint Banjo Club and the Auto City Banjo Club where he spent some time acting as the music director. Outside of the banjo clubs, Karl continued his love for music by teaching banjo lessons. Karl is survived by his sons: Scott Harrison and Terry Harrison; mother of his children, Marylyn Harrison; grandchildren: Mackenzie Harrison, Jordan Harrison, and Koltyn Luttman. He was preceded in death by both parents; siblings: Max Harrison and Don Harrison. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 1-4pm and 6-8pm and on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 11am-2pm at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc. Military Honors will be performed at 1:30pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. |
