Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Monday, December 4, 2017 at St. Mary’s of Michigan Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Age 65 years. The son of the late Peter F. Gonzales Sr. and Helen C. (Rodriguez) Gonzales, Peter was born March 12, 1952 in Flint, Michigan. He married Lynn Nora Wheeler, his loving wife of 42 years, on April 12, 1975. She survives him. Peter was employed at Buick for over 31 years until his retirement in 2005 and was a member of U.A.W. Local #599. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing and loved spending time with his family.
Surviving besides his wife Lynn are two sons and one daughter, Joshua and Heidi Gonzales, Flushing; Autumn and Eric Clack, East Lansing; Peter Gonzales, Fort Jackson, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Isaac Gonzales, Elena, Natalie, Isla and Todd Clack with another grandson, Samuel Clack, due very soon; one brother and one sister, Edward and Marlene Gonzales, Avondale, Arizona; Jane and Edward Wurm, Bull Head, Arizona; a brother-in-law, Stanley Wheeler, Davison; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Liturgy will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Mt. Zion Catholic Community, 8228 N. McKinley Road in Flushing, Michigan. Rev. Fr. James Bessert will officiate with burial in Flint Memorial Park. There will be no visiting hours at the funeral home. Friends may call at Mt. Zion Catholic Community where the family will be present on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. There will be a Vigil Service 7:00 p.m. Friday in the church.
