Linda was born on March 30, 1949, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Charles and Erma (Dingman) Cross. She graduated from Clio High School with the class of 1967 and went on to find her life’s calling working with children. On April 24, 1971, Linda married the love of her life, Tom Spalla. Together they shared 50 wonderful years of marriage before Tom preceded her in death in 2021. A proud Christian, Linda devoted much of her life to volunteering through her church and serving her community. She was a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts and served as the first Vice President Girls State Chair with American Legion Post #158, where she also helped establish the Veteran Park in Clio. In her later years, she remained active with the Clio Senior Center and the Glen Arbor Gleaners. Linda was a social butterfly who never met a stranger and made friends wherever she went. She enjoyed crafting and traveling, but above all else, she cherished the time she spent with her children and grandchildren. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Absolute Hospice and its staff – Heather and Shalonda. Also, to caregivers Teresa, Eleen, Leah, and Cyndi – for the compassionate care and support they provided during Linda’s final days.

Linda is forever remembered by: Daughters: Annette (Michael) Tipton and Tonya (Chris) Coffin; Grandchildren: Michael (Abbey Windle) Burns, Peyton Tipton, Conner Tipton, and Camryn Coffin; Brothers: Richard (Shirley) Cross, Larry Cross, Darlene Shepherd, and Charles (Shirley) Cross; Many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family, and wonderful friends. Linda was preceded in death by: Husband, Tom Spalla; Parents, Charles and Erma; Sister, Beverly Taylor; Sister-in-law, Mary Cross.
