SWAN, George R. – of Clio, age 73, died on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at McLaren Hospital in Flint. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor Ed Emmerling officiating. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4PM until 8PM and Wednesday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. An Eagle’s memorial will be held at 7PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

George was born September 11, 1946 in Edmore, Michigan to the late Donald and Mary (Esch) Swan. Mr. Swan retired from General Motors in 2004 with over 39 years seniority. He was a member of the Grand Blanc Moose Lodge #2344 and was a very active member of the Burton Fraternal Order of Eagles - Aerie #3814 where he served several zone and district offices, including Secretary of his local Aerie. He was also inducted into the Fraternal Order of Eagles State Aerie Hall of Fame in 2016. George also served on the Clio City Council for several years, eight of those as Mayor. He was the former chairman of F.A.A.S.T – Flint Area Amputee Support Team, and the Flint Ostomy Support Group for 15 years. George was a Boy Scout leader for many years. He was an avid reader, enjoyed boating, and was quite the Corvette Enthusiast. George had a wonderful sense of humor that will be greatly missed.

Surviving are: Children: Kristin M. Swan-Robinson, Jeffrey D. Swan, Gregory R. (Emily) Swan, and Teresa K. Swan-Bond; Loving companion, Bertha Goheen; 14 grandchildren: Riggs W. Robinson, Riley C. Robinson, Magnus M. Swan, Ramsey M. Swan, Aiden G. Swan, Cheyenne E. McIntyre, Bo W. Nickelson, Lyndi K. Schrimsher, Chelsi A. Swan, Matti Rae E. Swan, London Z. Cariani, Alonna B. Cariani, Josie R. Shephard, and Brady L. Bond; 1 great grandson, Cain J. Johnson; Sisters: Helen (Roger) Trevisiol, Sharon (Don) Inman, and Sally (Walter) Howe. George was also preceded in death by: Grandson, Ryan J.
