Benjamin Charles Jansen, 55, of Davenport passed away Monday, April 4, 2011 at home. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Thursday 6-8 p.m. at The Runge Mortuary. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery Buffalo, IA. Memorials may be made to D.A.V. Ben was born November 10, 1955 in Davenport, the son of Elmer B. and Shirley (Dimick) Jansen. He graduated from Davenport West High School in 1974. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 32 years.
Ben enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren Juniper and Edison and his nephew Travis. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes. Ben enjoyed mushroom hunting, boating and being outdoors. Ben also enjoyed music and playing the guitar.
Ben was preceded in death by his father, Elmer in 1995.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Carol, Davenport; daughter Amanda Wachuta, Des Moines, IA; mother Shirley Jansen, Davenport; sister Amy (Kevin) Hufford, Blue Grass; granddaughter Juniper Wachuta, Des Moines; grandson Edison Heinen, Des Moines; nephew Travis Hufford, Blue Grass; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Ben will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
