Danny William Smith
Danny William Smith, age 78, of Owosso, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 9, 2026. Born on July 8, 1947, in Owosso, he was the beloved son of Bill and Kathryn (Sanford) Smith.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Danny embraced life with a passion for the outdoors, finding joy in hunting and fishing. He was an avid enthusiast of remote control hobbies, often spending hours perfecting his craft. However, nothing brought him more happiness than the time he spent with his family, creating cherished memories that will be treasured forever.
Danny married the love of his life, Sandra Cottongim, on August 8, 1986, in Owosso. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter until her passing.
Danny's dedication to his community was evident through his work with the Ovid Police Department and as an EMT with Corunna, before retiring from Chevy V-8 General Motors.
Danny is survived by his loving children, Tamera Smith, Kelly (Mike) Schneider, Lisa Taylor, and Gary Smith (Latoya Cook) ; his step-children, Denys Draper and Toni Crane; numerous grandchildren; and his cherished siblings, Delbert Smith and David Smith, along with his sister, Katyh (Mike) Write. He will also be missed by his beloved pets, Pako, Sofie, and Sugar, who brought him immense joy.
He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Sandra Smith; his parents, Bill and Kathryn Smith; and his children's mother Elaine Smith along with his step-daughter, Sharon Hendricks.
In honor of Danny's life, memorial contributions are suggested to the Humane Society. |
