HAMILTON, Neil Jerome – of Lupton, MI, age 74, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be held 12 PM Saturday, December 9, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. The family will receive visitors 3-8 PM Friday, December 8, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423 and 11 AM-12 PM Saturday, December 9, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed 6:30 PM Friday, December 8, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Disability Network or Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, in Neil’s memory.

Neil was born in Flint, MI on August 23, 1949, son of the late Ferdinand and Mayme (Sullivan) Hamilton. He was a graduate of St. Mary Catholic School in Flint, MI Class of 1967. Neil attended Flint Junior College and graduated from Saginaw Valley College with a B.A. degree in 1971. He was employed with Genesee Welding, Goyette Mechanical and Sylvan Industries. Neil was a substitute teacher for Ogemaw Heights High School for many years. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Davison, MI and St. Pius X Catholic Church in Hale, MI. He attended Mass daily and loved his Rosary. Neil found pleasure in the simple joys of life, boating, sports and hanging with his friends and family. He enjoyed suntanning on his trips to Panama City Beach, Florida.

Neil enjoyed all sports, playing as well as watching. He was an enthusiastic fan of MSU Spartans and Detroit Tigers.

Neil is survived by 5 siblings, Genora (Tom) Goyette Halligan, Eugene Hamilton, Lana Zelley, Ellen (Gary) Root and Rita (Tom) Rutter; sister-in-law, Marilyn (Don) Goyette; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ferdinand and Mayme Hamilton; 3 siblings, Sam (Rosalyn) Hamilton, Gerard Hamilton and Michael “Mickey” (Sandy) Hamilton; sister-in-law, Mary Pat Hamilton; 2 brothers-in-law, Tom Goyette and Mike Zelley.

The family would like to thank McLaren Home Hospice, and a special thanks to Dr. Chris Szyarto for his compassionate care of Neil.
