DIAZ, Juanita – of Flint, age 72, died Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Genesys Hospice Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Friday, September 5, 2014 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Fr. Gary McInnes co-officiating. Cremation to follow. Friends may call at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Thursday from 3-8PM where a parish rosary will be recited at 7 PM. She will lie in state at the church on Friday from 10 AM until time of Mass at 11 AM. Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Juanita was born June 1, 1942 in North Pleasanton, TX to Juan and Enriqueta (Enriques) Gutierrez. She married Juan Diaz on March 28, 1964 and lived in Flint since. She was s member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, American GI Forum and the Flint Human Relations Commission. Juanita enjoyed volunteering at the Flint Schools, gardening, working at the elections and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are: husband, Juan; daughter, Angel Diaz of Clio; son J.T. Diaz of Flint; 4 grandchildren, Niko Ramirez, Julianna Decroce, Mimi Decroce and Nadia Marie Diaz; mother, Enriqueta Gutierrez of TX; sisters and brothers, Anna Marie Misner of NV, Yolanda (Valerio) Nieto of Fenton, Andy (Nanette) Enriquez of Flint, Elizabeth Guerra of TX, Martha (Martin) Garza of Clio, Annette Smith of TX, Ronald (Otili) Enriquez of TX; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her father, Juan Gutierrez; and a son, Jaime Diaz. The family extends a special thanks to Gloria and Debbie at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
