Katie (Kaden) Kristen Cooley passed away on December 29, 2025 due to complications related to epilepsy. She was born on March 21, 1994, to Sharlotte Subramanian and Terry Cooley. She was a proud 2012 graduate of Brandon High School.
Katie was preceded in death by her father, Terry Cooley Sr.; her brother, Timothy Weatherford; and her grandparents, Joyce Cooley, Dallas Breakiron, and Thelma Breakiron.
She leaves behind her beloved son, Leo Hensley, who was the center of her world. She is also survived by her mother, Sharlotte Subramanian, and her stepfather, Mani Subramanian, with whom she shared a close and loving bond. Katie is also survived by her brothers, Matthew (Sarah) Weatherford and Terry Cooley Jr.; her sisters, Jamie Cooley, Gayatri (Jay) Johnson and Karrah Cooley; her grandfather Kenneth Cooley; her nephew, Westley; and her niece, Emilia. She also leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Katie was passionate about advocating for others and was active with the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan, a cause that was very important to her. She cared deeply about human rights and believed strongly in making the world a kinder and more compassionate place.
Those who knew Katie will remember her as a kind, generous person who had so much love to give. She cherished time spent with family and friends, especially during game nights filled with laughter and connection. She also loved creating and enjoying music and spending precious time with her son.
Katie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of life will be held on March 21 at 3:00 p.m. at the Ortonville Masonic Lodge. Family and friends are welcome to attend and celebrate Katie’s life and memory together. |
