GIBSON, Joan – of Burton, MI, age 83, passed away on November 30, 2021. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12 PM, Saturday December 4, 2021 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, G-5199 Richfield Rd., Flint, MI 48506; Rev. Fr. Roy Horning celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 4 - 7 PM Friday, December 3, 2021 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423. Rosary will be prayed at 7 PM following the visitation at the funeral home. There will be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the Mass on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Joan was born in Flint, MI on April 7, 1938, daughter of the late Stanley and Marcy (Kniat) Bentoski. She married James Gibson on October 15, 1955. He preceded her in death on May 5, 2012. She retired from Genesee Intermediate School District where she worked as a bus aide for special needs children that she loved dearly. Joan enjoyed playing volleyball, cooking for her family and casino trips. Joan loved her family more than anything and they will miss her greatly.
Joan is survived by her sons, Rick and Steve (Brenda); 6 grandchildren, Kristine Sparr, Gabe (Courtney) Gibson, Jenny (Todd) Beagle, Jake (Natalie) Gibson and Zack (Kim) Gibson; 12 great-grandchildren, Noah, Eden, Payton, Ryan, Gavin, Alivia, Jonathon, Matthew, Isabelle, Quinn, Grady, Kellen, with one more on the way; many loving nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers.
