Larry D. “Sarge” Jurstik of Chesaning, died Sunday, August 30, 2026, at his residence with his family at his side. He was 77 years of age.
Larry was born July 1, 1949, in Lansing to the late John F. and Dolores F. (Wilson) Jurstik. He was a lifelong resident of the Chesaning and Brant areas. Larry had attended St. Charles Schools and was Catholic. He proudly served in the U.S. Army a total of 24 years. He was married to Judy Mae Sutton on August 23, 1969. She preceded him in death on December 6, 2000. He then married Juanita Hensley on May 18, 2018. Mr. Jurstik retired from Saginaw Products in 2002 with 29 years seniority. Larry was a member of American Legion Post #212, Mid-Michigan Old Gas Tractor Association for over 26 years and was known as the people mover at the Old Gas Tractor weekend. Larry was a licensed foster care parent for 30 years. He enjoyed camping, playing poker, going to the casino, visiting antique malls, and all of his daughters.
Surviving are: wife, Juanita; daughters: Kelly (Eric) Krupp of Chesaning, Kathleen Jurstik of Bridgeport, Kimberly (Jason) Stephens of Chesaning, Vicki Hagerman of Alma, Shelly (Richard) Rhyan of Bridgeport and Judy (David) Babcock of Bridgeport; 19 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 3 sisters; many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by: 3 daughters: Crystal, Veronica and Tammy; 5 sisters: and a son-in-law, Billie Jo Hagerman.
No services are planned at this time. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery with his daughters at a later date.
