Bemis, Patricia Ann of Flushing, age 83, died Friday, December 19, 2025, at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Flushing Presbyterian Church. Pastor Paul Pfeuffer will officiate. Burial will follow at Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Monday at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church until the time of the service at 11 a.m. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Flushing Presbyterian Church or Holt International.
Patricia was born in Owosso, Michigan on January 1, 1942, to parents Robert and Sarah (Snyder) Turley. She was the "New Years Baby" for Shiawassee County that year. She grew up on Stone Street in Flint, MI in the shadows of Hurley Hospital . As a child she spent a lot of time on her Grandparents farm near Corunna. While attending Central Methodist Church in Flint, she met the love of her life, Dean Bemis at youth group. They were both part of the first graduating class of Flint Southwestern High School, class of 1960. Dean and Patricia were married on August 25, 1962, at Central Methodist Church and celebrated 63 years of marriage.
Patricia worked as a Nurse for many years and then received her bachelor’s degree from the U of M-Flint and later her Master’s degree from Eastern Michigan University, before beginning a teaching career. She retired from Mott Community College as a Reading Specialist. Patricia was a faithful member of Flushing Presbyterian Church and served for many years on various committees and children's programs. She loved quilting and sewing. She especially enjoyed her Tuesday Quilt group and the friends she made there. Patricia loved gardening and was a Master Gardener. She loved driving her PT Cruiser, and pampering her very spoiled Corgi Cali. Her great love was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Patricia is survived by her husband, Dean; children, Matt (Linda) Bemis, Chris (Gail) Bemis, Jamie (Kenna) Bemis, Diane Libby; grandchildren, Ashley (Devon) Smith, Sarah, Michael,Jenna,and Joe Bemis, Geoffrey(Kate) Libby; great-grandchildren, Paxton and Ayden Smith, Morton,and Jayson Libby; brother, Robert (Carol) Turley; and sister, Bette Forsse. She was preceded in death by her parents. |
