Todd was born in Flint, MI on January 22, 1981, son of Ralph and Ellen (Frosh) Gilbert. Todd was a true Renaissance soul. A gifted musician, accomplished artist, and passionate thespian. He poured his heart into everything he touched, producing eight original musical CD’s, writing songs that spoke to the soul, and lighting up stages with his theatrical performances. Todd was a pop culture connoisseur and a trusted voice in film critique, often reviewing movies before they even hit theaters. A vinyl record aficionado, Todd found joy and meaning in the warm crackle of classic albums and had an encyclopedic knowledge of music history. His interests didn’t stop at the arts. Todd also carved out a path as a semi-professional wrestler and a certified D.D.P. Yoga instructor, never allowing limitations to define his capabilities. Living with Muscular Dystrophy, Todd faced challenges many of us could never imagine, yet he never once let it deter his spirit. If someone told him he couldn’t do something, he made it his mission to prove them wrong — and he did, time and time again. To know Todd was to know unwavering optimism. His outlook on life was infectious. He had a remarkable ability to lift others, always finding the light even in the darkest moments. He never met a stranger. Every person he encountered was greeted with warmth, humor, and kindness, quickly becoming a lifelong friend. Above all, Todd was devoted to his family. He was a proud and loving father, a cherished son, a supportive brother, and the kind of uncle every child dreams of. His love knew no bounds, and his presence brought comfort, joy, and inspiration to those around him. Todd’s spirit lives on in every song, every smile, every life he touched. Though he is no longer with us in body, his legacy of courage, creativity, and compassion will resonate forever.
Todd is survived by his loving parents, Ralph and Ellen Gilbert; sister, Megan (Austin) Zidar; 2 children, Grace and Gavin; nephew, Ronnie Zidar; many other loving family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; uncle, Paul Gilbert and aunt, Carol Mansell.
