SIMS, Velma Loucille – Of Flint, age 80, died Monday, January 6, 2014 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2014 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
Visitation 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Loucille was born in Brownfield, Texas on February 14, 1933, the daughter of the late Wendell and Velma Stephens.
She met her future husband, Clyde on New Year's Eve in 1954 and they married on her husband’s birthday, August 4, 1955 and celebrated 54 years of marriage together.
Surviving are children, Vicki and Steve Lacey,
Rick Sims,
Steve and Tracy Sims,
Cheri and Dan Proffer,
Kathi and Craig Alberson,
Sue and Mark Hawk and
Greg and Kathy Sims;
17 grandchildren;
7 great-grandchildren;
brothers and sisters, Chester and Kay Tomei, Joe and Cindy Tomei, Judy and Bob Conway, Beth and Bill Derwin;
brothers-in-law, Larry and wife Janice Sims and Bob Studdard;
sister-in-law, Elizabeth Tomei; and was loved by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde, on October 3, 2009; daughter-in-law, Anita Sims; brother, Lester Tomei and step-father, Edmardo Tomei.
