Linda Kay Phaneuf, 75, of Oscoda, formerly of Owosso, passed away at home on September 16, 2025.
Linda was born July 10, 1950, in Owosso, the daughter of Jay Edgeworth and Louise VanSteenburgh.
She graduated from Owosso High School in 1968, Central Michigan University in 1972 and received her Masters Degree from Michigan State University. Linda started working for Owosso Public Schools in 1972 as a special education teacher and as principal of Emerson Elementary from 1986-2003. She retired in 2003.
Linda was a member of the First Congregational Church of Owosso and was active in Owosso Community Players and various boards in Owosso and Oscoda.
Linda enjoyed making crafts and sharing cookies at the holidays, traveling, especially to Kiawah Island, and most of all spending time with her grandsons.
Linda married Tom Phaneuf at the First Congregational Church in Owosso on May 20, 1972.
She is survived by her daughters, Kristen and husband Jeremy Soukup and Megan Phaneuf and husband Edward Luchessi; grandsons, Parker Michael and Mitchell Oliver Soukup and Samuel Thomas Luchessi; brothers, Brent (Dee) Edgeworth and Jay (Sherry) Edgeworth; sisters, Julie Ardelean, Jane and Joy (Edgeworth) Jones.
She was predeceased by her husband, Tom and parents Jay (Dorothy) Edgeworth and Louise (Donald) VanSteenburgh.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, September 22 2025, at First Congregational Church in Owosso. Pastor Deb Grazier will officiate. Viewing will be held Sunday, September 21, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Nelson House.
