Jennie "Jo" Luft, age 79, of Gaines, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026.
For 43 wonderful years, Jo was happily married to her beloved husband, Bruce Luft. Jo’s greatest joy in life was her family. She cherished every moment spent making memories with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jo was a dedicated and hard-working woman who retired from Sears after many years of loyal service. She spent much of her time volunteering at the Burton Senior Center as a Deputy for Genesee County.
She leaves behind a large, loving family to cherish her memory:
Daughter, Vicky Miller (Roscoe) Payton and children, Michael (Kassy) Miller, Gillian Miller;
Daughter, Karen (Ron) Schoen and children, Daniel (Kristina) Denike, Nicholas (Katie) Denike, Kalli Denike, John (Ashley) Schoen and Stephanie (Ahlivia) Schoen;
Son, Wayne (Diane) Luft and children, Zechariah (Dakota)Luft, Paige (Tyler) Kline, Jade Griffth, Samantha (Kenny) Garlinghouse and Branden LaTourneau;
Daughter, Ruthi (Ben) Spillane and children, Remi Messinger and Lennon Spillane;
15 great-grandchildren;
Sister, Janie Edwards.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bruce Luft, sister Gerri Poltorack and parents.
A celebration of life will be held at 1pm on Monday July 13, 2026, Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 west Hill Road, Flint, officiated by Pastor Ed Emmerling.
Visitation will be held from 1-8pm Sunday, July 12, 2026, at the funeral home and 12pm Monday before the service.
She will be laid to rest at Sunset Hills.
