OOTEN, Tommy M. – Of Grand Blanc, age 80, died Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at his home.
Visitation 11 a.m. and Funeral service will be held at 12 noon Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Calvary Community Church, 1201 West Twelfth Street, Flint, Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettell officiating.
Burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Due to Covid-19 and government regulations, only 25 people will be allowed in the chapel at one time. Mask, group capacity and distancing guidelines must be practiced.
Visitation 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2021 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Tommy was born in Logan, West Virginia on September 8, 1940, the son of Isom and Eller (Vannatter) Ooten, Sr.
He served in the U.S. Army as a tank crewman and worked in the Personnel office.
On July 22, 1961 he married Betty Hylton in Whitman, West Virginia.
He was a member of Calvary Community Church.
Mr. Ooten worked 35 years at Buick Motor Division and was a member of UAW Local #599. He was a volunteer for VFW Post #822 AES.
Surviving are wife, Betty;
daughters, Terrie (Paul) DeClercq, Patty (Brent) Hudson and Pamela Stuart;
5 grandchildren 13 great-grandchildren;
sister, Sally (Marion) Davis;
brothers, Isom (Sandra) Ooten, Jr. and Ermon (Brenda) Ooten;
sister-in-law, Judy Ooten.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tex and Gene Ooten.
