John Robert Martin of Grand Blanc, Michigan, age 87, passed away Sunday March 30, 2025. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Church, 11804 South Saginaw Street in Grand Blanc, Michigan. Visitation starts at 9:00 AM, followed by a rosary vigil. Funeral Mass will start at 10:00 AM. The Act of Committal will follow the Funeral Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to either the Alzheimer’s Association or the Solanus Casey Center, both organizations close to his heart.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Martin. He was a cherished husband to Donna Martin for 62 years, a devoted father to Cherie Martin Smith and a proud grandfather to Jaclyn Waddell, Michael Smith, and Alissa Smith. He touched the lives of everyone he met with his warmth, kindness, and unwavering love.
A man of faith, integrity, compassion, and generosity, John found joy in the simple moments spent with those he loved. His legacy of love and devotion will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
John was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church, and his faith was the foundation of his life. His commitment to the teachings of the Church and his devotion to helping others reflected the very essence of his character. Whether offering a helping hand to a neighbor, providing for those in need, or simply offering a listening ear, John gave freely of his time, resources, and heart.
His most cherished moments were spent dancing with his beloved wife Donna and travelling together. John was also a lifelong skier. You could find him on the slopes with an infectious smile often encouraging others to join him. He shared this passion by teaching his family how to navigate the slopes with the same enthusiasm and skill that he had.
John had a remarkable ability to bring people together, to inspire them to try new things, and to approach life with a sense of joy and laughter. May he rest in peace, knowing that his love and mentorship will never be forgotten.
John is survived by his wife Donna Martin; daughter Cherie (Brad) Smith; grandchildren Jaclyn, Michael, and Alissa; siblings, Mary McWilliams, James (Sue) Martin; many other loving family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Grace Martin and brothers, Carl Martin and Frank Martin. |
