George was born in Derdaghya, Lebanon on December 2, 1934, son of the late Tony and Meba (Khouri) Essy. George dedicated himself to serving our country with valor in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957. On October 21, 2006, he embarked on a new chapter of his life, joining hands in marriage with his beloved Sherry Morrow, creating a bond of love that endured through the years. In the quiet moments of leisure, George found solace in the gentle rhythm of fishing, the camaraderie of bowling, and the adventure of traveling to the Florida Keys or the cozy retreats of Standish, MI. A passionate supporter of the University of Michigan and the Detroit Lions, his enthusiasm for sports knew no bounds. Yet amidst his varied interests, there was a special place in his heart for the timeless allure of western movies.

But above all, George cherished the warmth of family gatherings, finding joy in the laughter, stories, and shared moments that enriched his life. His legacy is woven into the fabric of these cherished memories, forever cherished by those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

George is survived by his loving wife, Sherry; children, George (Melissa) Essy, Jr., Becky (Matt) Agle, Tony (Tula) Lee, Shonda (John) Cryderman, Jennifer (Rob) Luptowski, Jamie Ray and Douglas (Holly) Cocke; son-in-law, Frank Mason; grandchildren, George (Meghan) Essy III, Dominique Cocke, Tyler Hollis, John Cryderman, Jr., Cheyenne Lamson, Tori Luptowski, Joseph Cryderman, Kegan Cocke and Leighton Cocke; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Annie Rashid; and many other loving family members and friends.
