Keithie Dwyane Motley was born on April 12, 1965, in Flint, Michigan at FOH Hospital to Walter Louis Motley and Curtis Ray Motley. As the second-born of eight children, Keith was known for his fun-loving spirit, natural leadership, and unforgettable personality. To his family and friends, he was affectionately known as “Wally Gator,” while many friends also called him “Maniac.” No matter what the name, he was recognized for his joyful energy, infectious laughter, and a smile that could light up an entire room.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 15, 2026, at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Tony Bryant officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home starting at 11:00 AM Friday until the time of the service.
Contributions may be made to the family.

In 1983, Keith proudly enlisted in the United States Army, serving in the renowned 82nd Airborne Division. His dedication, discipline, and excellence were quickly recognized, and in 1984, he earned the distinguished honor of Sharpshooter of the Year.

In 1994, Keith entered the police academy, where he graduated with flying colors, demonstrating the same determination and leadership that had always defined him. In 1995, early in his law enforcement career, he participated in the successful arrest of 13 gang members, an accomplishment that earned him the honor of Rookie of the Year along with a commemorative watch recognizing his outstanding service and dedication.

Keith continued serving in law enforcement until his retirement in 2003. Following his retirement from the police force, he transitioned into the next chapter of his life, working in Logistics, carrying with him the same commitment, courage, and passion that marked every path he pursued.

In his leisure time, Keith enjoyed bowling with family and friends, watching Detroit Lions and Detroit Pistons games, fishing, and playing football and basketball.

Keith was preceded in death by his son, Keithie Motley Jr.; his granddaughter, Bailee Osborne; his grandmother, Lizzie Singleton; and his grandparents, John and Arlela Motley.

Keith leaves to cherish his devoted wife, Tawnya Motley; his daughter, Courtnee (Jonathan) Osborne; his son Jaelon Daniels; God daughter Chantel Banks-Monroe; his grandsons Kaden Ward; Carter Osborne; his brother-in-law, Dante Manns; his brother, Sheldon (Connie) Singleton; his sisters, Tarsha (Markel) Barnett, Carmen (Cornell Jr.) Pinson, and Lizette (Quanteae) Bush; Daphne Motley, Walter Jr. (Ali) Motley, and Abra Motley; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and special friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all friends and family who offered their condolences, prayers, love, and support during this difficult time.

Keith will be remembered for his strength, leadership, humor, and the lasting impact he made on everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
