Deborah Harrington, lovingly known as Deb, Mimi, and Dub, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026, at the age of 71. She was born on June 28, 1955.
Deb was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who found joy in the simple things that made life special. She had a lifelong love of Snoopy, adored the color purple, enjoyed crafting, decorating, and thrift-shopping adventures, and was a dedicated fan of Metallica. Deb was especially known for remembering every child during the holidays, carefully selecting the perfect gifts and sending thoughtful holiday cards that brought smiles year after year.
Deb spent her early working years at General Motors Orion Assembly. Her strong work ethic began early and remained a defining part of her character throughout her life. She later spent 20 years working alongside her brothers and serving customers at Finish Line Auto, a time she cherished and one that brought her even closer to her family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Thompson; her stepfather, Leo Stevenson; and her brother, Rod Thompson.
Deb is survived by her loving mother, Jan Stevenson; her son, Richard Kennedy (Brandy); her daughter, Kayla Harrington (Shane); and her stepson, DJ Harrington (Ashley). She was a proud grandmother to Ricky Kennedy, SeaEra Nelson (Cameron), Derianna, Rekayla, Treyshaun, and Grey, and also a cherished great-grandmother to Theo and Blakelynn.
She is also survived by her brother, Robb Thompson (Kathy); her sister-in-law, Kristy Thompson; and her nieces and nephews, Angie Thompson (Chris), Jennie Bauder (Kelly), Kyle Thompson (Taylor), and Alexandria Prevo (Aaron). She leaves behind her great-nephews, Jacob Hatfield and Thomas Gardner; her great-nieces, Katelyn Hatfield, Emma Bauder, Leighton Prevo, and Riley Prevo; her great-great-nephews, Zayne Ward, Theo Thompson, and Mylez Ward; along with many beloved family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory and the kindness she shared with others.
Deb’s legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched through her generosity, thoughtfulness, and unwavering love for her family. She had a special gift for making people feel remembered, valued, and loved, whether through a carefully chosen gift, a heartfelt card, a shared laugh, or simply being there when she was needed most. Her vibrant spirit, strong will, and caring heart left an imprint on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created, the traditions she cherished, and the love she gave so freely will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends for generations to come. Even her beloved pets, Oaklee and Kayce, will feel the absence of the love and companionship she so generously shared.
A Celebration of Life visitation will be held 3-7pm Friday, July 17, 2026 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or The American Diabetes Association.
