Jacqueline was born in Flint, Michigan on July 21, 1938, the sixth of eight children to father Zahran and mother Anna (Haddad) Deibis. After marrying, Jacqui, as her loved ones call her, spent much of her life as a working mother of four herself. She worked as a beautician serving women in the Flushing community and as a 30-year employee at AC Spark Plug, the automotive supplier, where she met lifelong friends who came to be part of her family in their own right.

Proud of her Lebanese heritage, Jacqui was also fiercely proud to be American, closely following politics and current events. Sharp-minded and quick-witted, Jacqui was a voracious reader, frequently enjoying crossword and sudoku puzzles, as well as card games with her grandchildren. As her family grew, they congregated ritualistically in her home, the matriarchal epicenter of fun family parties, happy holidays, and cherished memories. Her loss is deeply felt and her presence ever enduring.

Surviving are children Kelly (Marc) LaVelle-Cusson, Anthony LaVelle, Tracy LaVelle-Mondalek, and Derek (Rene’) LaVelle;

Grandchildren, Sébastien (Laurie), Alexandra, Cody, Grant (Laurie), Camryn, Paul, Kavan, Emma, and great-grandchildren Marie and Elodie;

Siblings, Gerald Deibis, Charlotte Czarney;

Many nieces and nephews and closest friends, Cindy, Debbie and Ron.

She was preceded in death by her father, Zahran Deibis, mother Anna Deibis, siblings, Anthony, Theodore, Elias, Susan and Violet.
