After a long rich life, Shirley Ann (Adle) Cannon, age 90, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, Wednesday, December 17th, 2025.
Shirley was born on August 29th, 1935 in Mt. Morris, MI. She played the piano and violin as a child and was crowned homecoming queen her senior year of high school. In 1952, she met the love of her life Thomas W Cannon Jr. They were married on September 25th, 1954, at St. Mary’s church in Mt. Morris, Michigan. Thanks for a 73-year love affair. Their love story is one for the books. They were married for 71 years and together built a beautiful life full of adventure, love and lots of laughter. Their family grew to include 5 children, 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Shirley was a force of nature known for her warm smile, infectious laughter, witty banter, and comforting wisdom that always came at the perfect time. Shirley had many talents. She was a gifted seamstress, baker, painter and interior decorator. She excelled in personal finance which she enjoyed working on with her husband as a team in every endeavour they attempted. She was exceptional in everything she put her mind to. Her family was arguably her favorite and most important achievement. She was known best for being a doting and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is preceded in death by granddaughters, Natasha Conway, Kristen Cannon and Daughter-in-law Sherry Cannon. Shirley is survived by her high school sweetheart and loving husband Thomas Cannon Jr.. Her children, Thomas (Karen) Cannon, Nora Cannon, Mary Cannon, Robert (Ruth) Cannon, and Joe (Michelle) Cannon. Grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Rowe, Jessica (Ryan) Cannon-Hagler, Thomas (Heather) Cannon, Brian (Dawn) Martinez, Amy Hubbell, Robert (Yessica) Cannon, Joey (Hailey) Cannon, Richard (Elena) Martinez, Joshua Cannon, Gina (Jeff) Martinez-Hitsman, Matthew (Elizabeth) Martinez, Alex (Kelly) Cannon, Austin (Meredith) Cannon. Great-Grandchildren, Peyton and Tyler Rowe, Kylie (John) Beardslee, Julia (Brandon) Foster, Wyatt Hagler, Garett and Josephine Hagler, Emercyn Cannon, Issac and Michael Martinez, Kyle and Corrine Hubbell, Kristen and Kassandra Cannon, Hudson, Jolene and Cole Cannon, Aurora and Felix Martinez, Ryder Bochkov, Lilah and Korbin Hitsman, Dexter, Charlotte and Kadin McHenry.
