ASH, Jeffery Allan – of Davison, age 66, passed away Friday, July 31, 2026. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on a later date.
Jeff was born in Flint, MI on November 4, 1959, son of the late Ralph and Shirley (Ayliffe) Ash. Jeff was a proud 1977 graduate of Davison High School, where he excelled as a student-athlete. He earned All-Conference honors in baseball and received football scholarship offers, a testament to his natural athletic ability and love of sports.
In his younger years, Jeff worked at his family-owned business, the historic Davison Hotel, later working for Howell Industries in Lapeer, and proudly served his community as a volunteer firefighter with the Davison Fire Department. He was also an accomplished bowler who enjoyed both the competition and camaraderie the sport provided. Some of Jeff's fondest memories were made during childhood summers spent with his family at Grandpa Ayliffe's cabin on Bass Lake, where laughter, love, and family traditions created cherished memories that remained close to his heart throughout his life.
Jeff married the love of his life, Rose Moore, in 1984, and together they recently celebrated 42 wonderful years of marriage.
A devoted sports fan, Jeff rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his beloved University of Michigan Wolverines and the Detroit Lions.
Following a dedicated career, he recently retired from Terex in Durand, Michigan.
Jeff will be remembered as a genuinely kind and caring man whose quick wit and unforgettable sense of humor brought joy to everyone around him. Whether he was delivering the perfect punchline or telling one of his wonderfully detailed stories with a perfectly straight face, he had a remarkable gift for making people laugh.
Music was one of Jeff's great passions. He possessed an extraordinary memory and could effortlessly recite the lyrics to countless classic songs, naming the artist and even the year the song was released. Family and friends frequently turned to him to settle musical debates, always amazed by his incredible recall.
Above all, Jeff's faith was the foundation of his life. He loved his Lord and Savior and was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church. His kindness, humor, steadfast faith, and deep love for his family and friends will be treasured always, and his memory will continue to bring smiles to all who were blessed to know him.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife, Rose Ash; son, Eric Payea; 3 grandchildren, Tristan, Olivia and Aiden; 3 siblings, Barbara Ash McCrea, Kristine (Tom) Hankerd, and Steven Ash; 3 nephews, Weston and Connor Cowan, and Tyler Ash; niece, Rachel McCrea; many other loving family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Ash; mother, Shirley Bock; 2 dearly loved and missed children, Travis Payea and Andrea Marie “Annie” Ash; brother, Randy Ash; and family members Mark, Mike, Markie, Lynn, and Laurie Perry.
