Timothy Mark Poppen, 74, of Davison (formerly of Lapeer), died Saturday, September 25, 2021.
Tim was born October 13, 1946 in Detroit to Jess and Lenora (Batzloff) Dillon. He graduated from Lapeer High School, class of 1964. He married Ruby Thibodeau on January 15, 1966 – they were married for 20 years and raised their two children together. Tim went on to serve his country proudly in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He was an appliance repairman with Sears – a career that spanned three decades. In his spare time Tim was an avid golfer and played fast pitch softball for years. Tim LOVED anything U of M – he was a huge fan!! GO BLUE!! Above all, Tim loved simple times spent with his kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Tim is survived by his children: Paula (Chris) Brooks of Swartz Creek and Mark Poppen of Fenton; his special friend, Sharon Scarpaci of Davison; four grandchildren: Brittany (Tyler) Brooks, Alex (Breanna) Poppen, Bethany Brooks and Logan (Jaimee) Poppen; great grandchildren: Riley, Kali, Mason, Oakley, Levi and Colt; siblings: Jim (Becky) Dillon, Tina Roberts and Matt (Mary) Dillon. Tim was also survived by several nieces and nephews and his little buddy, Tiger. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Butch Roberts and his aforementioned parents.
Visitation will be 4-8PM Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer. Tim’s funeral service will be held at 2PM Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Muir Brothers. His family will receive friends from 1-2PM the day of the service. Burial will immediately follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Lapeer. In conjunction with the graveside service, Tim will receive military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post #16 Honor Guard.
