Edward "Sparky" Czarnecki, age 94, died on July 19th, 2021 in Swartz Creek, Michigan.

Edward is survived by his four daughters: Diane Jacobs of Chester Springs, Pennsylvania; Karen Kelly of Fort Collins, Colorado; Monica Bambauer of Palm Desert, California; and Mary Jane Olsavsky of Brighton, Colorado; his five sons: Michael of Bermuda Run, North Carolina; Joe of Highland, Michigan; Dr. Edward of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; John of Northville, Michigan; and Paul of Flushing, Michigan; 27 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Yolanda and Natalie. He was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Henrietta; daughter, Annie; and sisters: Stachia, Adeline, and Mary.

Edward was born on September 20th, 1926 to the late Paul and Julia Czarnecki in Turner Falls, Massachusetts. In 1944, he served in the US Navy during World War II for 2 years. He graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in teaching and obtained his Masters Degree in math from U of M. He was a professor of mathematics at GMI / Kettering from 1956 to 1992.

Ed had a tremendous passion for his faith, tennis and basketball. He worked tirelessly to raise a family of 10 kids and still find time to serve. He was a longstanding member of the Flint Tennis Club. He spent many summers with his kids maintaining the clay courts and serving on the Board of Directors. "Fast Eddie" often played basketball at lunch time at GMI, coached tennis at Powers High School and never met a stranger. He worshipped at St. Matthew Church and was often a "Fisher of Men". Sparky always kept track of all his grandchildren, shared his love of fishing and could tell you endless stories about each of them.

The family will greet friends for a memorial visitation from 9:30am until time of memorial mass at 10:30am on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Powers Catholic High School, 1505 W. Court Street, Flint. Luncheon to follow.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Powers Catholic High School Tennis Program in his name.

A very special “thank you” to his Swank Assisted Living family in Swartz Creek, who took excellent care of Sparky in the final years of his blessed life.
