GROVOM, Donald K. – of Clio, age 79, died Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Fostrian Manor in Flushing. Funeral services will be 11 AM Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 520 Butler, Clio, Pastor Erik Cloeter officiating. Cremation to follow with final inurnment at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 4-8PM and on Tuesday from 10AM until time of services at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Don was born December 29, 1931 in Flint to the late Alex and Orvilla (Jobin) Grovom. He was a resident of Clio the past 43 years. Don served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Twyla Wallace on June 16, 1962. Mr. Grovom retired from Chevrolet Plant #38 in 1988 with over 35 years seniority and was a member of the UAW Local #659. He was also a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Gordon R. Bennett VFW Post #1452 and the DAV. He enjoyed traveling in his motor home, bowling, golfing, gardening and was proud of working on the church grounds, and was a handyman in general.

Surviving are: wife, Twyla, daughters, Michelle (Robert) McAra of FL, Tracy (John) Koncz of FL, Felicia (Don) Robinson of Clio; 7 grandchildren, Eric, Abbey, Krista, Renee, Tom, Michael and Rachelle; 3 great grandchildren, Seth, Lillian and Bryson; brother, Richard (Izzy) Grovom of Grand Blanc; sister, Norma Wentworth of DE; several nieces and nephews; canine companion, Tippy. A sister, Joyce Koza, also preceded him in death.
