Age: 98
Community: Grand Blanc, MI

Joseph “Buck” Thomas Cahill, Jr., age 98, of Grand Blanc, MI, was called home to be with the Lord on June 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Buck was born on January 29, 1928, in Herndon, West Virginia, the son of Daisy (Mullins) and Joseph Cahill. Seeking opportunity, he moved to Michigan in 1950 to work in Flint's flourishing automotive industry and began a career with Buick Motor Division. After 38 years of dedicated service, he retired in 1988. On July 2, 1954, he married the love of his life, Pauline S. Laxton, in Flint, MI. Together they shared 60 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on faith, family, and service to others. They eventually made their home in Grand Blanc, where they lovingly raised their family together.
Buck was a founding member of Harvest Time Tabernacle, where he faithfully worshiped and served since 1972. Throughout the years, he held many roles within the church, including board member, sound technician, repairman, and active participant in the senior citizens group, “The Golden Agers.” His dedication to his church family was evident in both his service and fellowship.
He was known for his warm smile, quick wit, and love of sharing a good joke. He enjoyed watching Hogan’s Heroes, keeping up with the local news on Channel 12, and rarely missed an episode of Jeopardy! or Wheel of Fortune.
Buck is survived by his daughters, Diane (David) Cook of Burton, MI; Joanne (Tim) Aldrich of Grand Blanc, MI; Sharon Pollock of Cape Coral, FL; and Yvonne (Barry) Music of Burton, MI, and by his sister, Isabella Vandall.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Stacie Cook of Oswego, IL; Leanne (Derrick) Spell of Sugar Grove, IL; Courtney, Chelsea, and Megan Aldrich, all of Grand Blanc, MI; Michelle (Garrett) Fons of Fort Myers, FL; Jennifer (Kristin) Music of Allen Park, MI; Jacklyn (James Titus) Music of Linden, MI; and Justin (Emily) Music of Bowling Green, OH.
Also surviving are his great-grandchildren, Wesley, Owen, Laura, Elizabeth, Charles, and Gwendolyn Spell; Jacob, Joseph, and David Fons; Emerson Music; and Brody and Emmett Titus. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews and by Betty Poock, whom he considered family and loved as a daughter.

Buck was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pauline; his parents, Daisy and Joseph Cahill; siblings, Ruth Pack, Curtis Cahill, and Caroline Lester; nephews, Marvin and Robert Cahill; son-in-law, Gregg Pollock; David Poock; and sister-in-law, Ruth Cahill.
