Mary Beth (Devereaux) Spike, age 83, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away on September 22, 2026. Born on November 12th, 1942, in Owosso, Michigan, to Wells and Linnie (McFall) Devereaux, Mary Beth spent her life caring for others and making everyone she met feel welcome and valued.

A 1961 graduate of Chesaning High School, Mary Beth devoted much of her time to serving her community. She was a dedicated 4-H leader who taught many local children how to sew, sharing not only her skills but also her encouragement and gentle spirit.

For many years, Mary Beth was also the welcoming face and warm smile that greeted customers, employees and visitors at Oakley Hardwoods. With her friendly nature and patience, she made everyone feel taken care of from the moment they walked through the door.

Family was the center of Mary Beth’s world. She cherished every opportunity to gather with loved ones and created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and acceptance. Whether sharing a “half-a-cup” of tea or coffee around her kitchen butcher block, watching kids leap in and out of her swimming pool, enjoying an afternoon of antique shopping, challenging her sisters to a game of Scrabble, or “dropping in” on relatives throughout mid-Michigan, Mary Beth found joy in the simple moments spent with family and friends.

With a knack for finding humor in everyday moments, Mary Beth was loved for her witty remarks, infectious giggle, and remarkable ability to make others smile. No one ever left a visit with Mary Beth without a smile, a laugh, or a story to tell.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Jennifer Spike and Julie (Todd) Zaniewski; daughter-in-law, Carmen Spike; grandchildren, Kyler, Owen, and Spencer Spike, Katelyn and Ryan Zaniewski; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Patrick and Ryan Spike; grandson, William Victor Spike; her parents, Wells and Linnie Devereaux; brothers, Donald, Ralph, Robert, James, Phillip and William Devereaux; and sisters, Mildred Goodrich and Kathryn “Shish” Muirhead.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 4PM at McGeehan Funeral Home - Martin Chapel. Visitation will take place from 1PM until the time of service. Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Research Fund, part of the Michigan Alzheimer’s Disease Center.
