Margaret Ann (Dafoe Beck) Cooper
Age 89 of New Lothrop passed away on Friday, March 2, 2018 at The Meadows of Owosso surrounded by her family.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the New Lothrop United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 5 from 2:00 to 8:00pm at Nelson-House Funeral Homes New Lothrop Chapel, and also at the church on Tuesday from 10:00am until the service.
Margaret was born on April 16, 1928 in Owendale, Michigan to Gordon and Belma Dafoe. She was adopted at age 5 by Solomon and Florence Beck following the death of her parents. She was raised in Pigeon, MI and graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor's degree and teaching certificate.
Margaret taught in Owendale, Mt. Morris, and New Lothrop schools. Her passion was teaching children to read. She was a member of the New Lothrop United Methodist Church.
On August 23, 1955, Margaret married the love of her life, Aubrey J. Cooper. They were married until his death in 1999.
Margaret is survived by her son, Randall "Randy" Cooper; her daughters, Joy (Matt) Ebenhoeh and Laurie (Tom) Vincke; her seven grandchildren, Chrissy Cooper, Becky (Kyle) Brant, Greg (Caitlin) Ebenhoeh, Gary (Kate) Ebenhoeh, Eric (Elysha) Vincke, Jordan (Heather) Vincke, and Hilary (Richard) Grundas; and her seven great-grandchildren, Harvey Brant, Karter Hope Ebenhoeh, Grayson, Camden, and Harrison Vincke, and Gauge and Aliahna Vincke.
She is predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Aubrey Cooper; her adoptive parents and biological parents; her brothers, Bob Dafoe and Dick Wales; and her sisters, Betty Good, Jean Martin, and Carol Zmich Stringer.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the New Lothrop United Methodist Church or to the Twin Township Library for children's books.
