Donald Theo Goodwin, 82, of Prudenville formerly of Montrose passed away on Friday October 2, 2015 at Munson Health Care Grayling Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Donald was born on February 9, 1933 in Ithaca, Michigan to Theo and Marion(Bartley) Goodwin. He grew up in Ithaca and graduated from Ithaca High School. Donald served as a Corporal in the Army during the Korean War. He graduate with a Bachelors Degree from Michigan State University. On September 1, 1960 in Chesaning, Donald was married to Marjorie Ruth Tithof. He worked as an Investigator for the Michigan Liquor Control for many years. The couple moved several times around lower eastern Michigan following Donald's assignments. Twenty years ago Don retired and the couple moved to Houghton Lake where he enjoyed catching Walleye, duck hunting, and shooting trap. At one time, Don was eighth best in the state tournament for trap shooting in the senior division. He was also a member of the State of Michigan Retirees.
Surviving Mr. Goodwin are his loving wife of 55 years Marjorie Ruth Goodwin of Prudenville; three daughters, Kathryn (Kenneth Jannot Jr.) Goodwin of Dearborn, Elizabeth (Frederick) Fischer of Alto, Jeannette (Brock) Muller of Southgate, KY; son, James (Teresa) Goodwin of Lakeland, FL; ten grandchildren; brother, Gilbert Goodwin of Dexter; several nieces and nephews. Donald was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Shirley Beltnick.
Military graveside services for Donald Theo Goodwin will be conducted at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan at a later date. Christler Funeral Home, Prudenville Chapel is serving the family. Condolences can be sent to the family online at www.christler-holdship.com |
