Janice Rinks

Born: 7/25/1944
Died: 10/20/2025
Age: 81
Community: Flint, MI

On Monday evening October 20, 2025, Janice Rinks passed away peacefully with family by her side at McLaren Hospital.

Janice was born on July 25, 1944, in Flint, Michigan. She was the daughter of Helen Nations and was adopted at a very young age by William Nations.

Janice grew up in the town of Mt. Morris where she graduated from Mt. Morris High School in 1961.

She married the love of her life, Amos Rinks Jr., on November 17th, 1962, and they were one month from celebrating 63 wonderful years together.

Janice was well known for her cooking prowess before she started having health issues. She loved to help people by providing food and meals for families at graduations, receptions and funerals. Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving because it involved the two most important things in her life: gathering together with family and sharing her favorite foods of tradition passed on by her mother. Food and Family, it was something she longed for even up to her latter days of life. Later in her life she worked on scrapbooking and collecting pictures. She loved to print off pictures and give them to people for good visual memories. She also loved to take time to attend her grandchildren's events when she was able.

Janice was very active in politics in her younger days. She started out working with members within the state capital, and leaders in various political organizations by doing research type jobs to keep them informed in order to battle their opponents. She loved to remind our leaders that morality and respect for Godly principles were involved in the decision making process for our citizens in the community and state. She winded down her political involvement after her tenure on the Mt. Morris Community School Board.

She was a devoted member of the Church of Christ at Mt. Morris. Near the end of her time she grieved not being able to attend regularly because of her health. She loved the people she worshipped with dearly.

She is survived by her beloved husband Amos Rinks, Jr., 5 of her children: Amos (Mary Ellen) Rinks, Dana (Brian) Goode, Mike (Kim) Rinks, Mary (Nick) Kurish, and Seth (Heather) Rinks. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She also preceded her loving sister Carolyn (Bill) Gardner, and half-brother Doug Seeback and half-sister, Carol Matske.

She was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Helen Nations, siblings Bill and Doug Nations, sister Norma Fitze, her half-sister Sandra Pease. Janice also lost her newborn child named Faith Hope Rinks and grandchild Garrett Freeman.

Funeral service will be held 11am Monday, October 27, 2025 at Mt. Morris Church of Christ, 1262 South Street, Mt. Morris, MI 48458, Minister Jim Watson officiating.
