HOCOTT, Donald E. – Of Grand Blanc, age 80, went to his Eternal Home on Saturday, April 6, 2024 surrounded by family after a brief stay at McLaren-Flint .

A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00pm on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at the Central Church of the Nazarene, 1261 W. Bristol Road, Flint, with Pastor Jon Gildner officiating.

The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00pm on Wednesday, April 10th at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Visitation is also from 11:00am on Thursday, April 11, 2024 until the time of service at church.

Don was born in Battle Creek, Michigan on October 22, 1943, the son of the late Leroy and Betty (Wheaton) Hocott. On August 10, 1963, he married his high school sweetheart, Paula Gorham and they were married 60 years. Don was a kind loving husband, father and grandfather with a God-given talent of creativity, which he demonstrated in various ways. He was President of Hocott Advertising (previously Castle-Hocott Advertising). Don had a passion for promoting others by creating Newspaper Ads, TV Ads, Radio, Jingles, Bill boards, brochures, websites etc., that earned him several ADDY Awards. As recently as last month, he designed huge window posters for a hotel in Miami, Florida. He had a passion for promoting others. After giving his life to Jesus Christ, Don in turn used his God-given talents and passion to promote the Gospel Message. Most importantly he loved God. Don loved studying God’s Word. Up until his passing, he taught an adult Sunday School Class at Central Church of The Nazarene - for 46 years. Don wanted everyone to know Jesus as Savior and Lord. He was passionate and diligent about sharing how God had transformed his life!

Surviving are wife, Paula Jean Hocott; Son, Greg (Marie Therese-Buzad) Hocott; Daughters, Amy St John-Fiedler (Dan) and Jennifer (John) Riley;

8 Grandchildren, Christian Genger (Daniel), Chyna Tomasi (Tony) Anna Paris, Savannah St John, Andrew Hocott (Rachel), Nicole Carlson (Alden), Jonathan Riley and Calvin Riley;

5 Great-grandchildren, Marianne, Benedict, Sullen, Sylvia and Anthony.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Betty Hocott; brother Frank Hocott, son-in-law, Don St John.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Don’s memory are suggested to Carriage Town Missions, Flint, MI or Central Church of the Nazarene Benevolence Fund.
