GEORGE, James Emmanuel – of Flint, MI, age 86, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2021. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12 PM Thursday, April 15, 2021 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. John M. Machiorlatti celebrant. Interment, with Military Honors, immediately following the Mass in Assyrian Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 4-7 PM Wednesday, April 14, 2021 and 11 AM-12 PM Thursday, April 15, 2021 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed at 6 PM Wednesday, April 14, 2021 followed by a Memorial Service conducted under the auspices of the Flint Knights of Columbus Msgr. Patrick R. Dunigan Council 695 and the Fourth Degree Assembly 510 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics of Genesee County, in Jim’s memory.

Jim was born in Flint, MI on August 21, 1934, son of the late Daniel and Alice (Isaac) George. He was a graduate of Flint St. Mary’s Catholic High School Class of 1954. Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. He married Annette Lemieux in 1967 and she preceded him in death in 1969. Jim retired from General Motors where he worked as a Special Investigator in Quality Control for 47 years. He was a life-time member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Flint, MI. Jim was also a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and a member of Flint’s Msgr. Patrick R. Dunigan Council 695 and Fourth Degree Assembly 510. He was truly a free spirit who loved working with children, from golfing, skiing, roller skating and running track. Jim also was a volunteer with the Special Olympics for 50 years, including the Lois Craig Invitational Special Olympics Race of The Crim. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, reading and watching World War II movies and was particularly moved by the movie the Sands of Iwo Jima.

Jim is survived by 2 sisters, Sara (Tom) St. Martin and Mary Turner; 3 nieces, Vicki (Dave) Letcavage, Lorri (John) Marx and Kimmie Cox; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Alice George and his wife, Annette George.
